INTRODUCTION TO PROGRAM

Thanks for your interest in Kidz World Early Childhood Center. The childcare program and its staff would like to welcome you. Please take a moment and read this policy and procedure manual as we find it very beneficial to parents.

PHILOSOPHY OF KIDZ WORLD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

Children: Are entitled to a safe and nurturing environment with a schedule of routines that best meet the individual needs of each child in our care. Each child is treated with respect and as a valuable individual.

Parents: Are entitled to individual respect, support and quality care for their children.

Staff: Are entitled to a positive working environment which recognizes and respects their training skills and commitment to child care.

Center: Enhances the lives of the children and their parents by providing a caring and supportive service within the community.

FEE POLICY:

Childcare fees are based on enrollment (a reserved space) and not on attendance.

Fees are due to the 1st of each month and must be paid in full during the absence of the child regardless of illness, closings, holidays, vacations, emergencies or for any other reasons.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURES:

  • Open: 6:30am
  • Close: 6:30pm

Parents are required to sign their child in and out each day. For your convenience, a sign-in/out book, pen, and clock are located by the door. This gives us a written record of the child.
Important: Please pick up your child by 6:30 pm.

Please make every effort to pick-up your child on time. If lateness is unavoidable, please notify the center before closing and arrange for your child to be picked up by another adult.

MEALS:

  • Breakfast: 8:30am – 9:00am
  • Lunch: 11:30 am – 12noon
  • Snack: 3:00pm -3:30pm

Please notify us if your child has any food allergies. All meals will follow the CACFP Regulations and are posted. Your child will be encouraged to eat but never will be forced to eat. Children should arrive fed (unless arriving before mealtime).

POTTY TRAINING:

When a child is ready for potty-training they must be physically, mentally and emotionally ready to be successful. The child must be at least 2 ½ going on 3years old. Staff will not force potty- training on any child, regardless of age. We will take the children in small groups to the bathroom throughout the day. Pull-ups must be worn at all times. Please avoid tight clothes, belts, zippers, and overalls. Send your child with elastic waist clothing. We work with you during potty-training and not for you.

BIRTHDAYS:

Birthdays are special. We do small birthday parties to celebrate and share a birthday cake/pizza with classmates (parents alone are invited). Should you wish to have additional members come, we ask for you to celebrate outside of the center.

UNIFORMS:

Children turning 2yrs are required to wear our uniform.

Uniforms can be purchased at Cookies Department Store – #36

INCIDENT REPORTS:

Minor bumps and scratches happen from time to time. We ask for parents to be reasonable and that scratches are not intentionally done by another child. Please keep your child’s nails trimmed.
Bites: Children biting other children is one of the most common and most difficult behaviors in a child care setting. It can occur without warning. Children will bite for a variety of reasons. No matter what the cause, biting causes strong feelings in all involved. Before we terminate a child, parents will be notified in writing to seek professional help for their child. If biting continues, the child will be terminated from the Center.

SICK CHILD:

Kidz World Early Childhood Center is a “well child care facility”. At no time do we provide sick childcare or give medication. If your child becomes ill during the day with diarrhea, vomiting , and flu-like symptoms, the parents will be called to pick the child up. If your child has a contagious disease (chickenpox, pink eye, lice, etc), please notify the center so we can alert the other families in your child’s class. The child will not be admitted back into care without a note from their doctor stating they can return and participate in daycare activities.

MEDICAL IMMUNIZATION:

A fully completed up-to-date medical immunization form, signed by a licensed physician will be needed before enrollment. Flu-Vaccine is MANDATORY and will be needed.

Please download our Immunization form and print it out. You must complete this form and then submit it to Kidz World Early Childhood Center.

DISCIPLINE POLICY:

The use of corporal punishment is prohibited. Center does not tolerate, or in any manner condone, an act of abuse or neglect of a child by an employee or volunteer person. We use
positive tactics that strengthen a child’s self-esteem.

Disruptive behavior by any child within a classroom will be documented with ongoing communication with the parent.

NAP TIME:

There will be a designated nap/rest time each day. All children will be allowed to sleep on a cot with their blanket brought from home. If you must pick up your child during nap time, please call in advance to avoid disturbing children that are sleeping.

CLASSROOM RATIOS:

  • Infant (under 1yr old) 4:1 (8 max in room)
  • Toddlers (1yr – 2yrs) 5:1 (10 max in room)
  • Big Toddler (2yrs) 6:1 (12 max in room)
  • Preschooler (3yrs) 10:1 (15 max in room)
  • Preschooler (4yrs) 12:1 (20 max in room)

COMMUNICATION:

Good communication is of the utmost importance. When a new child is accepted into our center we like to be sure that we can share openly with the parent about any concerns or questions we may have. We also welcome questions, feedback or discussions of any kind that are oriented towards a positive outcome for the child. Sensitive issues will be discussed in private at a mutually beneficial time.

EMERGENCY CLOSING:

In the event of an emergency and the center needs to close for the safety of our staff and the families we serve, parents will be notified to pick up their child by a designated time (the pick-up time will be determined by the center according to the weather).

If there is a snowstorm late night following into the next morning, parents must call to find out if the center will be open
